Movin' on up

I moved back up to Logan this Friday and was pleasantly surprised to find that my apartment isn't much of is a step up from the trailer I was hoping for.  It's in the basement of a dentists office and it smells and looks like it was built in the late 60's/early 70's (vintage is all the rage these days right?). We've also got an ant problem farm in the kitchen.  So obviously I'm pretty happy about that. Those aren't the only good things about my new crib though, it's really close to campus and my roommates seem really nice.... but the best part?  I have two beds and two closets! So you guys can come visit whenever you want! and if you feel the need to bring your whole wardrobe go right ahead cause I got space for it.

You're packing your bags right now aren't you?

Anyway, classes start tomorrow and I get to go to American history from 1900-1945 and Photography. I'm really excited for photography, this will be the fourth time in my life where I've signed up for a photography class so I'm just hoping I won't have to drop it this time too. Keep your fingers crossed!

Hey.

I'm just sitting here watching Ghost Hunters.  They are investigating the Mark Twain house so obviously I have to watch.  I think if I could pick a dead person to be haunted by I would pick Mark Twain.

Anyway, I've been doing a lot of driving lately, from Riverton to Logan, and from Logan to Bear Lake and bunch of other combinations between those cities.  It's made the days all kind of blend together and I can't remember what I do from day to day very well, it's very disorienting and pretty annoying.  It makes me feel the same way that Hayley looks in this picture...
(ok, so I just was trying to find an excuse to put this picture on my blog, can you blame me?)  All the driving has really made me look forward to the day where I live and work in the same city.  I just have to  actually find a place that has some room for me.  The idea occurred to me while I was working the other day that instead of wasting money paying rent to the man, it would be cool if i could own the place where I live.  But what could someone who earns minimum wage afford to buy?

A tent?
sure.

ooooor.....

A trailer!
YES!

a cute trailer like this

of course I'd probably have to pull it myself, like this guy:

It's not exactly a lifestyle of the rich and the famous but remember how in the movie Thor, Thor's girlfriend also lives in a trailer?  Anything good enough for Thor's girlfriend is also good enough for myself.  I could join the ranks of Jane Foster and bring the stereotype of "trailer park trash" to a new high of "trailer park class".

...did I really just write that?

Good times.

This weekend has been pretty fun.
It started off with "Jake Appreciation Day" and although there was no Jake Cake, back braces, or even t-shirts with his darling face on them it was still a complete success.  Everyone was very appreciative for his good looks that could only have come from heaven above. Jake, you are a gentleman and a scholar and I wish you luck with your new life in the Source Code.

The next day turned out to be Korean appreciation day.  I watched some Koreans do a pretty cool drum show thing up on campus and it made me really want to go there someday. This video doesn't do it justice AT ALL.  It was sad too because the guy doing the dance was actually supposed to do it with the hat on his head and not use his hands at all, but one of the things that holds the hat on his head broke.  I was lucky though cause I got to see the real thing the day before.

I sat there and watched with the exact same face that Boom Boom has in this video:

So then yesterday we had the first bonfire of the year (well, my first at least).  Don't get me started on how much fun it was.  I think the best part was when one guy was telling us scary stories about certain laws passed in Wisconsin, oil spills in the Gulf of Mexico, and the scariest one of all... one man's plans to build a mosque near ground zero in New York, "much to the dismay of all Americans".  Needless to say, I couldn't sleep at all last night after these stories.

Mixed in throughout all this fun-ness I got two of my last three days of work at the Old Grist Mill over with.  Now I just have to get through work on Monday and class on Tuesday and I'm free for the rest of the week.  I entirely plan on enjoying myself in St. George, and I'm not even going to worry about how white my legs are compared to everyone else.

So yeah, I guess that's all I have to say about that.

March 22, 2011

I have 5,000 things to write about.

First off.
I really love this blog and I read it all the time.  I especially love the "bording pass" seires that she does and a day or two ago she interviewed a lady who makes these awesome mini books to document her travels:
So I started looking at this lady's blog and saw that she is full of  good ideas and I want to copy all of them.  One of these ideas is her "34 things to do before i turn 35" project.  I think this is an awesome idea and I think I'm going to do something like that as well, maybe something that includes doing all the things in Utah that I've always wanted to do but never done because I forget about it (Spiral Jetty?!?)

Also.
Mallory and myself like to go on Sabboth walks when we are both up in Logan on Sundays (obviously).  This past Sunday we discovered the joys of breaking into the football statium and taking crazy pictures of ourselves.
This is one of my favorites from the day:
Mallory's pose reminds me of this:
(except Mallory is on an incline and wearing a skirt, which is obviously much harder)
sweet huh?
Mallory.  You always amaze me :)

Also on Sunday we found this awesome tree house thing in Logan Canyon and after we knew for sure that no homeless people were living in it I climbed on it.  I was glad to be wearing my indian climbing moccasins.

humm...
out of the 5,000 things I wanted to write about I could only remember two.  I must be getting old and senile.  Awesome.
Well, I guess I'll write more later if I remember.
Peace and blessings.

My life lately (in pictures)

Cleaning the sink at Angies.
Mallory was so excited to eat some ice cream that she blurred.  You can't even see me in the picture, that's how fast I was moving to get some  cream.

The lens baby is alive again. I can't tell you how much I love the thing, it's so much fun.

January 11, 2011

This semester is going to be an adventure... to say the least.

That is why I was so grateful for the "pep talk" that Elder Christofferson gave at the fireside on Sunday (at least that's what I got from the talk). So I decided that I'm going to make this the theme of this semester:
Just finish the day.
I can do anything for one day and I won't let myself stress about the next day, week, or month until it comes.  I can handle anything life throws at me from the perspective that it's just for the day, but when I start thinking about being stressed out for three months with the end result possibly being failure and a waste of time and money I start to not be so happy.  So basically, I'm just going to make each day a success and before I even know it, three months will go by SUCCESSFULLY!

This, I can do.

The end.

November 21, 2010

bored

Tonight has been the definition of boring so I decided to take my camera out for a some bonding time.
Even though it was freezing and I was working with dangerous conditions (I only fell on my butt once out of the 20 times I slipped) I really enjoyed myself.  I think I might make this a regular Sunday activity.

November 08, 2010

meet my two new friends...

Ben & Jerry's Boston Cream Pie and Americone Dream ice cream.
So, so good!

I got home from work about an hour ago and pulled out my homework "to do" list and thought, "to heck with this! It would be better if I ate my weight in ice cream!"
or something like that.
And that's exactly what I'm doing now.
(this seems to be a trend in my life lately)

So

Thank you Ben, thank you Jerry,
thank you Boston,
and thank you Steven Colbert

This night would not be possible without you!

Also:

I wanted to write about my weekend cause it was lovely (except for the working Friday and Saturday part).

Saturday was Luci's baptism.
It was definitely worth the 3 hour drive and I'm really glad I was able to go. Luci looked so pretty, as always, and it was really great to spend time with the family.
I love my crazy family and our traditional Chuck-A-Rama feasts :)

(I took a lot of pictures but I like this one below the best and I'm now crashing from the ice cream sugar high I just described above, so I'm only going to upload this one for now... :)

November 05, 2010

just some stuff...

My knees are still killing me and so I'm afraid that I've entered the family's honorable "chronic knee pain club" with Spence, Dad, Brit, and Erin (except Erin has just has "neak wees" not chronic knee pain that I know of...).

I tried to run yesterday and I look something like this:
(thanks Spencer for showing me this!)

In other news....
Last night was a good time.  Believe it or not but I square danced.  Yes it's true.  After that we cleaned the sink at Angies which brought my tally of ice cream consumed in one day up to about 2 gallons.

Here is proof:

Well....
I gotta pack for my trip home to see Sweet Luci get baptized so I'll talk to ya later!
