That one time I met the Killers.

I know we've been over this story quite a few times now but I need to write it down for posterity.  So here it is one more time:

Friday night Hayley and I met the Killers (thanks to my Mom who we forced to call the radio station with us to try and win the tickets).  Really the only thing I have to say about it is that Brandon actually is as good looking in real life as you would think.  When Hayley said hi to him and he smiled and said hi back she lost all composure, it was pretty funny.  She clapped her hand over her mouth said "oh my gosh!" and then just backed away.  ha!  I can't blame her though because she's still a teenager after all and that's what they do right?  Kidding, kidding... I would have done the same thing if I hadn't done some serious mental prepping before hand.  But anyway, hopefully I'll have the awkward pictures soon so I can share them with y'all.  It was definitely a good time, my only complaint is that I wish we all could have sat together but oh well... next time.

Also, It was kind of funny last night, me and Hayley went over to the new Trader Joe's and Hayley was wearing her Killers t-shirt, we were only in there for like 30 minutes but three people commented on her shirt.  The one guy at the check out stand asked us if the concert was good and we said yes. Then he asked if Brandon melted all the girls hearts (or something like that) and we said yes and Hayley told him that we got to meet him and they guy said "can I touch you?" and he reached out and touched her arm.  Funny guy.

Ok, one more thing while we're on the Killers topic.  Have you heard their Christmas song that came out today?  It's called "I Feel It In My Bones," and it's a sequel to "Don't Shoot me, Santa" which is probably my all time favorite Christmas song.  Here's a link to their new song and here's the video to Don't Shoot me, Santa:

All alone in the moonlight...

I was just thinking tonight about that time at Bear Lake when we were all out watching the meteor shower and Jake chose the perfect silent moment to say... "Someone!  Open the Bifrost!"  It was hilarious.  He said it with such conviction that it left me laughing my head off, but at the same time, disappointed because the Bifrost did not open.  It was kind of like learning that there is no Santa or that Marlon Brando was about 400 lbs before he died.  So yeah, I just wanted to write it here to guarantee that I don't forget that moment.  Jake is one of the funniest guys I know.

an extraordinary combination of girl power and horse power...

Yesterday I changed a flat tire.  All by myself.  It was awesome.  I feel like I've left the "realm of helpless blond girl" and entered the world of "I-can-at-least-change-a-flat...... helpless blond girl."  So you can imagine that I felt pretty good about myself,  I had all sorts of girl power running through my veins (the Spice Girls would be proud).   After my big head had some time to enjoy itself, the real world came back to hit me like the smell Spencer makes after eating at The Bomb Diggity's (or whatever it's called)...

now I have to buy new tires.

dang.

DANG IT.

I don't want to buy new tires, why can't I just drive around on my spare for a year or two??

dang.

(head sufficiently deflated)

I finally have some stuff to write about

Lack of inspiration and lack of material to write about has made this here blog pretty boring these days. Don't you worry though cause I have some stuff to write about again!

Anyway, last Friday Sina came over to spend the night at our house.  It was a pretty fun night, we went to see Water for Elephants at the dollar movies and it was lovely to see Robert Pattinson NOT as a vampire (something I've never considered lovely).  The best part of the night though was that we smuggled in 3 cups of noodles, which I have to say isn't the easiest thing in the world to do, I was nervous that we'd have a Kramer incident but it turned out fine, and the noodles were delicious!

One time up at USU, Mallory and I brought a baguette and brie to a movie and now after this most recent smuggle I think I might start sneaking food into movie theaters as a hobby.  I'm planning on starting easy with food like pizza and then working up to the harder stuff like fondue. :)

I have a lot more to write about but I'm way tired so I'll write more later!

I'm glad my bro is home

There are a lot of reasons that I love having Spencer back in the USA, but tonight I'm here to tell you just one of those reasons; which is, his conversations. Tonight Boom Boom and I had a good conversation with Spence, it went like this (more or less):

Spencer- Have you guys ever heard of nocturnal fatties?
Kori- No, what is it?
Spencer- It's a fat person that you never see during the day. They only come out at night to get fast food to keep up their fatness.
Hayley- So is that the official term?
Spencer- It could be, or J. J. might have made it up. I was a nocturnal fatty once...
Kori- Ha ha ha!! You only went out at night to feed?!
Spencer- Well, I once went to Arby's every night for like a week, and the funny thing is that the same kid gave me my food every night. The first night he didn't think anything of it, but then the second night he was like... (Spencer makes a confused face) and the third night he was like... (Spencer makes a shocked face)...

This is where I forget the rest of the story, I was laughing too hard :)

Don't Mess.

So last night at the gym, Boom Boom and myself wanted to play a little pepper (volleyball with 2 people) but the gym was full of basketball players and little girls learning gymnastics. So we went over to the fake grass area and saw that there were only about six 10 year old boys (give or take a few years) playing football. They didn't have the gym reserved or anything so we went in and started playing in the corner. The little brats had the whole rest of the gym but, as it usually is with brats, that wasn't good enough. The boys thought they were really cool and they kept running through our game and throwing the ball dangerously near our heads. We tried to be patient with them but chance of peace was killed when two of them collided with Little Hay and she was knocked to the ground. Oh boy was she mad, she got up as fast as a neon tiger and let them have a piece of her mind, "SERIOUSLY! You have the whole gym! Can't we just have this little corner?!" The brats didn't say anything and walked away , but you could see fear in there eyes battling with the desire to impress each other with how bad they were. They kept up there dangerous game and on the second close call I threatened to start hitting the volleyball at their fragile, egg shaped heads.
So eventually they stopped playing and their Moms came, buckled them into their booster seats and took them home.
I'm sure Bret felt the same way when he and his gang had to deal with some bully kids...

Hey...

Here is another awkward Kori story for ya...

It was about 4 or 3 years ago and I was going to school at BYUI and there was this guy who worked at the gym. He was from Albania and he was known as "the hot gym guy." He was beautiful. So a few of my friends and myself would go play racket ball just so we could "talk" to him. Here is an example of one of our best conversations:

Me: Hi, I need to turn in my racket.

Hot Gym Guy: OK, what's your name?

Me: Kori Thaxton

...Hot gym guy looks through computer for my name...

Hot gym guy: There are so many names in here...

Me: (oh crap! I didn't plan on him saying other stuff to me!) ha ha ha... yeah, I bet...

...Hot gym guys finds my name.... I hand him my racket and walk away...

So... this is the story of my life. When I am smitten, I am literally SMITTEN. I can't talk or think or do anything intelligent, but it was extra bad with Hot Gym Guy. The thing you have to understand about Hot Gym Guy is that he was tall, he was dark, and he was VERY handsome. The triple threat. He also had an accent which was not hard to listen to and sometimes on campus he would just appear out of nowhere when you least expected it, in all his glory, and take your breath away. It's sad because with all of my encounters with him I never learned to have composure in his presence. I guess it's true that if you don't learn from history then you are doomed to repeat it because I've been repeating if for quite some time now.

BTW....
it took me a while to count all 6 votes on my poll (luckily they taught me to count that high at BYUI) but all votes were yes so I started Saturday and I will update weekly!

P.S.
I really love The Killers. Brandon has GPS and Dave is like the Robert Plant that grew into Robert Tree :)
