Not much brings the Christmas spirit into my heart like the story of the Grinch Who Stole Christmas (NOT the movie with Jim Carry... the cartoon). It embodies Christmas perfectly. I just love the little Grinch at the end of the story, just look at him... so cute...
I just was feeling a little Grinchy tonight for a truck load of reasons, one of which included me accidentally crushing a styrofoam cup full of hot chocolate so that the drink showered me and everything near by.
I was kind of annoyed.
But after that I came back to my apartment and turned on the tv to the cartoon network (of course) and, low and behold, there was the Grinch! This part of the poem always brings a tear to my eye:
"And the Grinch, with his grinch-feet ice-cold in the snow, Stood puzzling and puzzling: "How could it be so? "It came without ribbons! It came without tags! "It came without packages, boxes or bags!" And then he puzzled three hours, till his puzzler was sore. Then the Grinch thought of something he hadn't before! "Maybe Christmas," he thought, "doesn't come from a store. "Maybe Christmas...perhaps...means a little bit more!"
And what happened then...?
Well...in Who-ville they say
That the Grinch's small heart
Grew three sizes that day!
And the minute his heart didn't feel quite so tight,
He wizzed with his load through the bright morning light
And he brought back the toys! And the food for the feast!
And he...
...HE HIMSELF...!
The Grinch carved the roast beast!"
I think my heart just grew 3 sizes while reading this blog post. You inspire me. c'est vrai!
