Hello 2010!

2010!? holy crap, that's crazy. At the beginning of this decade I was 12 years old, I was still in diapers basically. And look at me now in the last week of 2009!... OK, yeah I know, not very impressive huh? But 2010, oh baby, this is going to be a great year! The year to top all years! I can feel it, so many great things are going to happen, dreams will come true, lives will change, friends and family will come home! (yes, I know I'm being a little dramatic) Speaking of friends coming home, I got an email today from one of my dearest friends in the world who is on a mission in Italy. In the letter she wrote this quote, which goes perfectly with what I'm feeling (it's by Jeffrey R. Holland)

"God expects you to have enough faith and determination and enough trust in Him to keep living, keep rejoicing. In fact, He expects you not simply to face the future (that sounds pretty grim and stoic); He expects you to embrace and shape the future--to love it and rejoice in it and delight in your opportunities. God is anxiously waiting for the chance to answer your prayers and fulfill your dreams, just as He always has. But He can't if you don't pray, and He can't if you don't dream. In short, He can't if you don't believe."

That basically says it all. I love how he says that God expects us to "embrace and shape the future." To me the future is always brighter than the past, it is always perfect, but once it becomes the present it can either stay perfect, become the opposite, or just be wasted. We shape it and therefore it shapes us.
Sorry, it's hard for me to put feelings into words so I'm probably not making any sense (like usual). I just wanted to share that quote, it really inspired me and I hope it does the same for someone else!

Happy New Year!!!
