I'm not sure why but tonight I've been thinking of how I've been so lucky to have so many good role models in my life, specifically women role models with most of them being in my family. My Mom is obviously the first person who comes to mind. The older I get the more I realize how intelligent she is. She knows a lot about almost everything... history, literature, music, art, and other cultures... and I can't forget to mention how kind and unselfish she is. Who can ask for a better role model?
I also have quite a few Aunts and both of my Grandmothers and two sisters who I've really looked up to growing up. I've learned so much from them, especially the importance of family.
Also, I've been lucky to have Young Women leaders and women like my J.V. volleyball coach, and SO many incredible friends who were all such a good people and so encouraging to be around. I think that from all of these women, the most important lesson they've taught me (and that I'm still trying to apply in my life as well as they do) is that self worth shouldn't rest on the shoulders of men, it should come from the knowledge that Heavenly Father loves you and it should come from living a life you can be proud of and always trying to be better.
The best part is that I've learned all of this from seeing the way they live their lives, not necessarily from anything they've said to me, and I think that makes it so much more meaningful and true to me.
I'm really such a lucky girl, I don't know what I did to deserve it.
